Some people say I am lucky, because I am Dutch. Apparently the Swiss like Dutch people and German is relatively easy for me to understand. I also live in a nice neighbourhood with an international feeling. And I have small kids who laugh, talk too loudly in the tram, fight, sing and cry, strangers always seem to want to talk to or about them. Besides that, I am a communications professional, so I love communicating.
But being lucky is too easy a reason to explain why I feel so comfortable in my new country.
Try to be open (minded), adapt to the culture and share your own culture with the Swiss. Ask for help and information, but offer to help or support too. Get out of your comfort zone and connect with locals.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
