As I was listening to Kathy, I came up with what I thought was an ingenious plan. What if I had my party on Friday or Saturday but at the same time hosted an apéro for my neighbors on Sunday? So, with the kind help of my Swiss colleagues, I put together a letter where I introduced myself (a doctor who now works in pharma to help patients all over the world and who just recently started at Novartis) and made the invitation to Sunday’s apéro. At the very end of the letter, I inserted a short note saying that I might have a few people over for my birthday Friday and I ask for their understanding but for them to please let me know if things should get too noisy.
And noisy they got. It was a great party with over 20 people attending that went on until 3am or so. There was a lot of dancing, a lot of music, and a lot of conversation so I really expected the police siren any minute. But nothing happened.
